The Cajón Trio is a natural product of the music world. Every now and then musicians are put in ensembles for per the request of a benefactor. The Cajón Trio comes straight out of that continuum. For Akeem Marable, The Cajón Trio is his fourth feature release on Behip Records. The album features some his favorite collaborators, Justin Chesarek, percussion, and Rick Lollar, guitar. After playing a single gig, Marable figured this would make a good album, and ultimately it came to fruition. If you take a look at the album art, you will see a simple graphic of a saxophone, guitar, and cajón as well as the album title. This minimalist visual represents the scaled down nature of the music. It is very much about the space between the notes, an unadorned soundscape. This is music for a roadtrip, a Sunday afternoon, an eventful daydream. This is The Cajón Trio.
